What:
Embark on a captivating journey through time, exploring the vibrant history of New York City across 37 immersive field trips. We'll delve into diverse eras, from the pre-settlement natural history of the land, the culture and social systems of indigenous peoples to the Revolutionary War, the rise and fall of Tammany Hall, draft riots, and ongoing social justice movements. We'll explore themes of class, labor, immigration, and the 20th century, brought to life through visits to historic houses like the Van Cortlandt House and Merchants House, iconic sites like Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, and renowned museums like the New-York Historical Society and the Museum of chinese in America

When: Thursdays September 12th 2024 - June 12th 2025 10:05-3:05
Trips may often run late, so parents are encouraged not to schedule activities immediately after this class.
Where:
Meet at Brooklyn Public Library Pacific Branch. (4th Ave. and Pacific Street near Barclays) We meet in a classroom at the library, discuss our current, future, and past trips and assignments.
Staff:
Lead Teacher: Noah Mayers. Noah is the founder of Brooklyn Apple Academy and has led more than 600 field trips around NYC and the Tri-State area. He’s obsessed with NYC, history, systems, infrastructure, politics, and art.
